Project Manager

Description:

Project Manager is responsible for the management and leadership of projects to meet goals concerning schedule, budget, and client requirements. PM will manage multiple projects from submittal stage to final completion using internal and external resources in the most efficient manner possible.

Project Manager will be surrounded by internal team consisting of an engaged business owner/President, COO, Superintendents, Foremen, Shop Operations Manager, Fabrication Technicians, HR Manager, Safety Manager, Quality Manager, Drafting Manager and a talented installation team. The depth of our team allows the PM to focus on procurement of materials, client interaction, and executing the work within schedule and budget.

About Southwest Glass & Glazing:

We are a commercial glass and glazing sub-contractor based in Albuquerque, NM. We are focused on projects in New Mexico and surrounding states in the Office, Healthcare, Education, Renovation, and Interior Finish sectors.

Duties:

  • Develop and execute plan to take project from submittals to close-out/completion.
  • Purchase and schedule all material from vendors that represent the best fit for the project.
  • Maintain files in logical manner in accordance with company standard.
  • Prepare Schedule of Values and manage project budget.
  • Oversee and coordinate preparation of shop drawings and engineering using internal and external vendors.
  • Prepare all submittals, RFIs, and change order requests in a timely manner to ensure no delay to project.
  • Monitor in-house fabrication and external fabrication to ensure all material is produced on time and address any delays with fabrication team and customer/GC.
  • Assist Superintendents and Project Foremen with manpower projections based on material delivery schedule and milestones established by customer/GC.
  • Participate in and contribute to project meetings held by customer/GC.
  • Collaborate with project team to identify the means and methods to execute the work most efficiently.
  • Assist Foreman and Superintendents with coordination of on-site activities.
  • Visit job sites regularly and document observations.
  • Provide weekly project updates to management team. Travel occasionally as required by project.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk jobsites with varying terrain.

Position Requirements:

  • Be an independent self-starter and possess advanced time management skills.
  • Work well in a team environment consisting of SWG&G personnel, GC, and Design Team.
  • Understand how to build and maintain relationships with SWG&G personnel, suppliers, GC, and other professionals.
  • Possess excellent professional written and oral communication skills.
  • Have advanced shop drawing and construction document interpretation skills.
  • Identify problems and develop creative solutions that minimize negative impact to project.
  • Understand material processing, fabrication, industry standards, and code.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • Have a working knowledge of field installation methods and how to select correct systems for projects.
  • Prepare detailed material take-off and source quotes based on plans and specifications.
  • Possess working knowledge of the following systems and products listed below:
    • Curtain Wall, Window Wall, Storefront
    • Doors: Storefront and Automatic
    • Door Hardware
    • All-Glass Entrances
    • Exterior Glass
    • Interior Glass – Decorative and Specialty
    • Interior Glazing Systems
    • Metal Panel and other Cladding Systems

Glazier

Description:

Glazier is responsible for the installation of product. Glazier is viewed as a team leader and is expected to assist with training other crew members as needed. Glazier will follow the direction of the Foreman or Superintendent and communicate with team regarding scheduling and supply needs.

  • Use shop drawings and other provided documents to execute project.
  • Take direction and work according to planned schedule to keep project on time.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent and Foreman to execute the work most efficiently.
  • Review quality and efficiency of work daily.

Travel:

As required by project location and schedule, both in-state and neighboring states.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, handle, carry materials of 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk jobsites with varying terrain.
  • Must have physical endurance to work an 8–10 hour shift.
  • Must be able to set up and climb step ladders, extension ladders, and scaffolding ladders.

Position Requirements:

  • Hold a state issued Glazier Certificate or other glazing trade-specific certification; OR demonstrate sufficient experience to qualify as a Journeyman.
  • Have the ability to safely operate aerial lift equipment.
  • Be an independent self-starter and possess advanced time management skills.
  • Own and maintain personal tools for glazing trade.
  • Work well in a team environment consisting of SWG&G personnel.
  • Understand how to build and maintain relationships with SWG&G personnel & suppliers.
  • Be a leader and communicate with crew effectively.
  • Assist in the on-the-job training of team members.
  • Have advanced interpretation skills for shop drawings, plans, and other documents.
  • Have a working knowledge of field installation methods for storefront, curtain wall, glazing, and door hardware.
  • Possess working knowledge of the following systems and products listed below:
    • Curtain Wall, Window Wall, Storefront
    • Doors: Storefront and Automatic
    • Door Hardware
    • All-Glass Entrances
    • Exterior Glass
    • Interior Glass – Decorative and Specialty
    • Interior Glazing Systems
    • Metal Panel and other Cladding Systems
